TERMS & CONDITIONS
Hawker is committed to absolute transparency on product condition to ensure a seamless sales service. As Hawker inventory is vintage there is typical wear and tear to consider across the product range. In order to best communicate these we have full documentation of each piece and can provide any additional images you need to finalise your purchase with sound piece-of-mind. We have made every effort to communicate these characteristics through the images we publish. Hawker believes these characteristics add to the beauty of each product and that builds the story and unique personality to each piece.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS
We have created a glossary to further explain our comments in the condition section of the product description. For any additional questions regarding finishes and condition please contact us directly at email@example.com
Original patina // This refers to the structure of the item, such as a wood frame on an armchair. This implies that the item has not been refinished with anything topically that would change it from its original design. It may however have had an oil or a wax applied to reinvigorate the wood tones.
New components or fixings // This refers to improving the structural integrity of the item. New components or fixings are only applied to the piece to ensure it is sound for use. We only use new components or fixings when necessary as we prefer not to change the authenticity of the original. New components are usually hardware such as bolts, screws or wooden dowels.
Robust frame // This refers to the sound nature of the original item. Robust frames means structurally sound and good for use.
Typical wear and tear // This refers to the finish of the items. We would consider this an average amount of wear to the finish, considering the life span or usage of the product.
Notable wear // This refers to the finish of the items. We would consider more then average wear, considering the life span or the usage of the product. This does not mean it is undesirable, it just means that the finish is more distorted from its original construction.
Excellent working condition // This refers to the finish of the items. We would consider this above average wear, considering the life span or the usage of the product. This does not mean it is more desirable, it just means that the finish is less distorted from its original construction.
Fabric discolouration or mottling // This refers to the finish of the upholstered items. This refers to marks on the fabric. Some of these present as spots or smudged, whilst others have an even mottling. We regard this as very desirable and cherish a unique finish.
Authentic ageing // This refers to the finish of the metal items. Similar to ‘original patina’, this implies that the item has not been refinished with anything topically that would change it from its original design. It may however have had an oil or a wax applied to reinvigorate the rusted tones. We celebrate rust in this business.
Minor Repairs // This refers to doing repairs on the original item. Something we try to do very sparingly, but in some instances, especially upholstery, a fresh recovering or simply fixing a working zip, can bring new life to an old piece.
Hand formed or forged // This refers to the construction of the item. It is a reason as to why in a set of four, each item varies slightly. This is because the piece is created by hand instead of machine. Again we celebrate this differences and enjoy the love someone has put into creating these pieces once upon a time.

WEAR AND TEAR
Our products are vintage. This makes them one of a kind and slightly imperfect, just how we like it! Our items are thoroughly inspected and meet our high quality standards. Their condition is already reflected in price.
Our clothing items are dry clean only, unless otherwise stated on product page. For our larger upholstery items, we recommend professional cleaner only. For wood care we recommend Howard “restor-a-finish’ which is available to purchase through Amazon.
